Let's fly to Barcelona
Spring is coming and you want a city break in the sun ? come with me, I make you discover Barcelona ! The capital of Catalonia is very well served by low-cost companies and prices on site are affordable. Regarding me, I book almost all my trips by Expedia and excursions on Viator which are two sites where you can use cashback thanks to Igraal. It’s off for a little getaway !
Gaudí's Barcelona
Whether you are connected to architecture or not, hard not to fall in love with the buildings, created by Gaudí, famous Catalan architect who made Barcelona an open-air museum… starting with the Holy Family. A project so ambitious that the end date of the works is estimated for ... 2026 ! Ici, everything catches the eye : colors, shapes, the luminosity. At the top, you can enjoy an incredible view of Barcelona !
We continue with the Parc Güell for a green break. Perched on the heights of the city, this park is home to some of Gaudí's works, including two houses that seem to be made of gingerbread, the dragon staircase, the Hypostyle room in 84 columns and the esplanade inlaid with mosaic.
And then there is the Batlló House ! Some see in this modernist building Venetian masks, other human skulls. The interior is also worth a visit and can be visited with an interactive audio guide. Less impressive than Casa Batlló, the stone is just as beautiful.
Gourmet Barcelona
Impossible to spend a weekend in Barcelona without eating tapas or some local products. A detour to the Boquéria market is a must. There are vegetables, Fish, cheese and cold meats. Perfect for eating on the go or bringing some ham home.
If you do a little shopping, you will necessarily pass by the Ramblas, Barcelona's most famous street. The prices are a bit high, but there are very good tapas bars there ! I recommend, however, the small parallel streets for a gourmet break. Unless you prefer a meal by the sea in Barceloneta.
The Barcelona of the past
To travel back in time, just rush into the narrow alleys of Barri Gòtic. There are remains of the Jewish quarter and the synagogue. The streets are almost all in the shade, which is nice when it's hot. Take the opportunity to make a detour to the splendid Saint Eulalie Cathedral.
The Born district is home to the Palace of Catalan Music and the Picasso Museum. These two little wonders immerse us in Catalan culture and in the history of the famous painter. Take the time to stroll the streets.
You know Barcelona ? For a long vacation or a getaway ? Je ne dévoilerai pas tout mais cet article n’est pas anodin… Stay Tuned !
