Anecdotally… I had pre-ordered Hogwarts Legacy online and thought it would be available on the 7 February from 19 h (as I was told). Except that it was already available since the day before at midnight… So I spent my morning waiting for it to download with the hope of quickly starting to explore Hogwarts. And by the time the game was finally ready, it was already time for me to go to work. But as the saying goes “Good things come to those who wait for”.

A first impression on the heritage of Hogwarts

The small flats raised by the press critics would be a lack of finish, minor optimization issues and a sparse bestiary. But it is however quickly compensated by a rich universe, fast-paced combat and total immersion in the wizarding world. We are still talking about one of the most anticipated video games of 2023 by Hogwarts Fans ! The game that finally lets you ride a broom, to ride a hippogriff and experience magic.

The school is impressive with a lot of detail as well as colorful and well-marked characters. And what a pleasure to walk around Hogsmeade with the other students, to discover the common room or the corridors covered with tableaux vivants ! We note that the gameplay is accessible to all, whether or not one is already initiated into the history of this magical school.

When does the Hogwarts Legacy story take place? ?

To situate yourself a bit in the history of the wizarding world, it's in the years 1800 how the game goes. This is long before Harry Potter was born, since the famous wizard was born in July 1980. This is a step back in time, hence the title of the video game which is translated into French by the heritage of Hogwarts.

It includes ancestors of Ron Weasley's family such as Professor Mathilda Weasley and her nephew Garreth. Another teacher by the name of Eleazar Fig could also be an ancestor of Mrs Fig, the Little Whinging squib who was responsible for watching over young Harry.

And to the delight of the fans, we find of course all the houses that we can choose to embody : Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor. Peeves the wacky poltergeist is also included in the game. Which from a chronological point of view is completely coherent. Although absent from the films, he is one of the oldest characters in the school since he arrived at Hogwarts at the time of the Middle Ages.
